Nye Bevan temporary closure for boiler maintenance

  • Nye Bevan to close for five days on Friday 1 August for boiler maintenance works
  • Facility hoping to reopen on Wednesday 6 August
  • Park Pool and Burscough Wellbeing and Leisure Hub open use of West Lancs Leisure centres to all Nye Bevan members and customers for closure period

Nye Bevan Leisure Centre will be temporarily closing its gym and pool facilities from Friday 01 August to Wednesday 06 August 2025 to carry out urgent boiler maintenance.

The issue, identified earlier in the week, requires prompt action to ensure the continued safety and comfort of customers. Works will commence on Monday 4 August, with the centre expected to reopen on Wednesday 6 August.

The Nye Bevan team has worked swiftly to address the matter and minimise disruption to users. During this brief closure, customers are encouraged to make use of alternative facilities operated by West Lancs Leisure:

  • Burscough Wellbeing & Leisure Hub: Gym and group fitness classes
  • Park Pool, Ormskirk: Swimming pool, gym, and class offerings

Councillor Carl Coughlin, Lead Member for Leisure, said:

“I would like to thank officers and staff for their quick response to resolving this issue. This is a temporary fix to ensure Nye Bevan can remain operational and, more importantly, safe.

“This presses home the need to look to the future provision of leisure and the delivery of new, fully operational and welcoming sites.”

For further information or assistance, members are invited to contact the Nye Bevan Leisure Centre directly. Updates regarding the progress of works and reopening will be shared as they become available.
