Ormskirk Civic Hall receives vital heating upgrade with funding from West Lancashire Borough Council
West Lancashire Borough Council is proud to support the continued development of one of the Borough’s key community centres, Ormskirk Civic Hall.
This improvement was made possible through a £48,815 investment from West Lancashire Borough Council as part of a wider programme to enhance local infrastructure and support vibrant and resilient community spaces across the Borough.
Funding for this investment has come from the council's focus on communities and place when distributing the Government's allocation to West Lancashire of UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Thanks to this funding and the hard work of staff and volunteers at The Civic, a new heating system has now been installed in the front section of the building, along with ancillary works to support the upgrade.
The improvement will make a significant difference to the comfort and usability of the venue, particularly for the many community groups, volunteers and visitors who use the space year-round.
Ormskirk Civic Hall is a much-loved venue with a rich history of serving the local community. It hosts a varied programme of activities and events for all ages, playing a vital role in the cultural life of the town and wider Borough.
Councillor Gareth Dowling, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: "Liz and the team at The Civic have worked tirelessly for many years to ensure we retain the fantastic and historic building that is Ormskirk Civic Hall and we cannot thank them enough.
"It is this council's intention to support upgrades and future use of The Civic in any way we can and we are pleased we have been able to provide this funding of almost £50,000 to support with the installation of a new heating system for the front section of the building, which we hope will provide a more comfortable venue for users during the colder months, and increase bookings and hire income for The Civic."
Liz Wainwright, Managing Director at The Civic, said: “The new heating system in the front section of The Civic will have an enormous impact on our volunteers and customers as we head into autumn.
“Ensuring that The Civic is a warm, welcoming environment fit for the future is our top priority and this goes a long way towards helping us achieve that. We are incredibly grateful to WLBC for facilitating the new system through UKSPF funding.”
This investment is part of a broader effort to strengthen community infrastructure across West Lancashire, ensuring valued local venues like Ormskirk Civic Hall continue to thrive and serve future generations.
