  • New developments will enhance our urban centres and boost the area's green town living ambition.

Pride of place and collaborative working was the overriding message delivered to guests at the relaunch of the Skelmersdale Ambassadors Network held at the Best Western Lancashire Manor Hotel, Skelmersdale. The network brings together businesses and organisations who are focussed on creating a more successful economy for our communities by attracting investment, encouraging businesses to grow and improving the local economy.

The morning event, supported by West Lancashire Borough Council, was extremely well attended with representatives from a diverse range of industries and sectors, all of which created a vibrant and energetic atmosphere as delegates networked with each other to share their experiences and connected with the experts who were present from the world of business and academia.

An exciting programme of influential speakers delivered a number of interesting presentations concerning the drive and ambition of Skelmersdale, the place, the people and the future. Jacqui Sinnott Lacey, Chief Operating Officer at West Lancashire Borough Council, spoke about the exciting new developments taking place in Skelmersdale such as Phase 2 of the town centre development plan, the Tawd Valley Housing Developments, Beacon Country Park, and the new Leisure & Wellbeing Hub.

Councillor Rob Molloy, portfolio holder for Economic Development and Regeneration said: "Skelmersdale has big ambitions. We believe that we have the infrastructure in place to attract the businesses and the people who will help the area to develop and grow, attracting dynamic new industries and vibrant communities. Members of the ambassador network will help to promote and drive forward our vision for Skelmersdale."

Jacqui Sinnott Lacey, Chief Operating Officer at West Lancashire Borough Council said: "What a fantastic event.
