The Green Fayre returns to West Lancashire with a packed weekend of heritage, crafts and family fun
Get ready for an action-packed weekend this July as the much-loved Green Fayre returns to Beacon Country Park, bringing Vikings, animals and countryside adventures to life in spectacular style!
The free family-friendly event will feature a full programme of live shows, arena displays and hands-on demonstrations across the weekend. Visitors can also explore a wide range of stalls and exhibits in the market marquee, showcasing rural heritage, traditional crafts and countryside skills.
Those looking for excitement can also step into a bustling Viking encampment, where a longboat and dramatic battle re-enactments bring history to life. Visitors can enjoy sheepdog displays in the main arena before meeting friendly farm animals, gentle donkeys and magnificent owls and birds of prey. On Saturday, there is also sheep racing in the very special ‘Lamb National’ event, making the Green Fayre a truly unforgettable day out.
For food and drink lovers, a wide selection of vendors will be on hand to serve-up everything from smashed burgers, loaded fries and wood-fired pizzas to Greek street food, vegan dishes, doughnuts, cakes and pastries. Drinks, ice cream and candyfloss will also be available.
If you’re looking for a special gift, the market marquee and trader area will feature a diverse mix of stalls including Viking and medieval merchandise, handmade crafts, jewellery, wooden toys and gifts, sustainable products, natural pet treats, mead and honey, as well as wildlife and sustainability charities.
Councillor Neil Furey, Committee Chair for Communities and Environment, said: “This superb annual event brings in visitors from all over the region and plays an important part in supporting West Lancashire’s visitor economy.”
It showcases the best of what the Borough has to offer, including local traditional skills, local crafts and community spirit, and I’m sure this will be the best one yet.
Well done to our Countryside Rangers and everyone else who has been involved in bringing this fantastic celebration of the countryside together for us all to enjoy.”
