West Lancashire Borough Council and Police join forces in neighbourhood safety initiative

Lancashire Police and West Lancashire Borough Council neighbourhood officers will once again join forces for Police and Communities Together (PACT) events.

The initiative will see officers host meetings at community venues across the Borough, providing tenants and residents the opportunity to discuss the neighbourhood safety issues most important to them, including anti-social behavior.

Officers will be present to listen to any concerns, offering support, advice and crime prevention information. The feedback will help shape neighbourhood policing and how officers can directly act on the priorities of the communities they serve.

The meeting will take place at Evermoor Hub in Skelmersdale on 13 May at 5.30pm.

Following this first meeting in Digmoor, a series of evening meetings will then be scheduled at different venues later in 2025.

Councillor Gareth Dowling, Deputy Leader and lead member for Community Safety and Planning, said: “Creating a safe space for our residents to speak to a council officer, local Community Beat Manager or Police Community Support Officer is vital to help build trust.

“It will also help officers create a true picture of any anti-social behaviour incidents and in turn, target hotspot areas.

“Having chaired these meetings in my own ward previously for a number of years, I'm delighted to see them return and look forward to the meetings enhancing relationships between residents and local police going forward.”

PC Aaron Cork, Neighbourhood Police Team at Lancashire Police, said: “PACT meetings are a great way for our residents to discusses any concerns they may have.

NOTE:

PACT helps inform people about how they can get in touch with their local Community Beat Manager or Police Community Support Officer.

It also provides a way that officers can be tasked by the communities they serve.
