West Lancashire Borough Council Christmas Opening Hours

 

West Lancashire Borough Council's services will change over Christmas. Services will operate as outlined below and further information can be found here on the website.

CUSTOMER SERVICES / TELEPHONE ENQUIRIES:

The Customer Contact Centre will close at 12 noon on Friday 23 December and will re-open at 8.30am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

The phone number remains the same for emergency calls when the offices are closed: 01695 577177.

CUSTOMER SERVICE POINTS DERBY STREET, ORMSKIRK AND CONCOURSE SHOPPING CENTRE SKELMERSDALE:

The Customer Service Point at Derby Street will close at 12 noon on Friday 23 December and will re-open at 9am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

The Customer Service Point at the Concourse Shopping Centre will close at 3pm on Thursday 22 December and will reopen at 10am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

REVENUES AND BENEFITS SERVICE:

The Revenues and Benefits Service will close at 12 noon on Friday 23 December and re-open at 8.30am Tuesday 4 January 2023. You can still make payments during this period by visiting the Council’s website http://www.westlancs.gov.uk/payabill or using the automated telephone payment line which is available 24 hours a day on 01695 585150.

HOUSING SERVICES:

Day to day housing repairs and gas heating repairs (including air source and electric heating): Our repairs service will be available as normal up until 12 noon on Friday 23 December. From 12 noon on Friday 23 December to 8.30am on Tuesday 3 January 2023 we will be carrying out EMERGENCY repairs only. Normal repair services will resume from 8.30am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

For emergency housing repairs and homelessness please telephone 01695 577177. You can still make rent payments during this period by visiting the Council’s website http://www.westlancs.gov.uk/payabill using the 24hr automated telephone payment line 01695 585150, or at the Post office, Paypoint & Payzone retail outlets using your rent payment card.

REFUSE AND RECYCLING:

Over the Christmas period your grey, blue and green bin waste collection dates will change. Revised collection dates are:

  • Tuesday 27 December will now take place on Wednesday 28 December
  • Wednesday 28 December will now take place on Thursday 29 December
  • Thursday 29 December will now take place on Friday 30 December
  • Friday 30 December will now take place on Saturday 31 December

Please note that all brown bin collections will be suspended week commencing Monday 26 December and week commencing Monday 2 January 2023. Normal service will resume on Tuesday 10 January 2023. CAR PARKS - PAY and DISPLAY:

From Thursday 1 December until Saturday 24 December, eight Council-managed Pay and Display car parks in Ormskirk town centre will receive an additional two hours free parking. This means you can pay just £1 to park for up to five hours instead of three. This excludes Derby Street Council Offices and the bus station car park, which will remain closed until 2023. In line with Sundays and Bank Holidays, the Council's pay & display car parks will be free of charge on 25 to 27 December and 1 & 2 January 2023

LEISURE:

MARKETS:

Our traditional market in Ormskirk will continue to be open as usual on Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the Christmas period. There will also be an extra market on Monday 19 December.
