West Lancashire to pay tribute to the fallen

Every year on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, communities across the Borough come together to pay tribute and honour those who have lost their lives serving our country.

For 2026, Remembrance Sunday falls on 8 November while Armistice Day will be observed the following Wednesday on 11 November.

Both commemorations will feature public remembrance services at various locations around the Borough, with Council representatives joining the Mayor of West Lancashire, Councillor Janet Ingman, to pay their respects.

Councillor Ingman said: “Remembrance is a time to pause and reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of those who lost their lives serving their country and to honour their courage and dedication.

"Their contribution will never be forgotten. As a result of their selflessness and bravery, we continue to enjoy the freedoms we cherish today.

“I encourage everyone across the Borough to take a moment to remember and pay tribute to those who have served in conflicts past and present and continue to serve our country."
