Football pitches

West Lancashire Borough Council own and manage football pitches located at the following sites:

Burscough

  • Victoria Park: One 11 vs 11 pitch, no changing facilities. 

Ormskirk

  • Church Fields: one pitch (junior rugby)

Skelmersdale

  • Blaguegate Playing Fields: eight pitches with changing rooms. Blaguegate Grass Pitches do not have parking facilities available for use on site. The council promotes the use of Sandy Lane Car Park WN8 8LH using the footbridge as safe access to the playing fields.  
  • Hillside Playing Fields: two 11 v 11 pitches, no changing facilities.

Up Holland

  • Tower Hill: five pitches as detailed below, no changing facilities:

1x 9 v 9 73m by 46m (goals on site)
1x 7 v 7 55m by 37m
2x 5 v 5 37m by 27m

1. For season hire, pitches will be allocated for use on either week's 1, 3 & 5 or weeks 2 & 4 of each month - if you require a pitch on an alternative weekend to your allocation, please contact us

2. Where pitches are required each week, costs are double

3. Each payment is for a 2 hour booking

 

Availability:

  • Pitch hire is available during football season (September - May) at weekends only between the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm

Pitch Allocation:

  • We will endeavour to accommodate your booking request wherever possible, however in the event of numerous requests an alternative offer may be provided

If you would like to apply to use the football pitches please email Paul Hammond for the application pack Paul.Hammond@westlancs.gov.uk

For season hire, please complete and return booking forms no later than 26th June 2026, in order for your request to be considered during the scheduling process.

Playing pitches owned but not managed by the Council

Burscough Richmond FC manage the football pitch and changing pavilion at Richmond Park, Burscough.  For more information on availability and prices, please contact them directly or email Paul.hammond@westlancs.gov.uk

Cricket pitches

Two cricket pitches are available for hire on Abbey Lane Playing Fields in Burscough. Changing facilities are available upon request. For more information on availability, contact Burscough Dynamo:

Annual passes cost:

  • Adult £27.00
  • Junior £14.00
  • Senior citizen £14.00
  • Club Bowling £50.00
