Food safety

The Environmental Health (Food and Safety) Team works with food businesses across West Lancashire to ensure that food is safe to eat. The Team's work includes:

  • Carrying out food safety inspections in food businesses
  • Awarding Food Hygiene Ratings
  • Investigating food safety complaints and concerns in relation to food and food businesses
  • Taking food and shellfish samples for microbiological analysis
  • Investigating cases of food borne disease and outbreaks 
  • Providing food safety advice and assistance

The Council understands that businesses may look to change their business model and diversify in order to maintain their business during this time.
