Process

The strategic housing role involves local authorities understanding the relationship between planning and the economy, and between the regional, sub-regional and local levels of housing strategy.
  
It must ensure that housing is integrated as one of the key components into the Sustainable Community Strategy, the Local Area Agreement and the Local Development Framework.
 
To do this the Housing Strategy and Development section undertakes and contributes to a range of surveys and research in order to understand housing need, housing markets and economic issues that all contribute to building and contributing to sustainable communities.
