Energy efficiency

West Lancashire Borough Council is working with local authorities across Lancashire to help households access funding for energy related improvements to their homes. The Cosy Homes in Lancashire (CHiL) project is helping residents to access advice, grants and support on a range of money saving measures.

If your property is suitable, you may be able to get energy efficiency improvements installed in your home at a reduced cost or in some cases, free of charge. The energy measures can include, full boiler replacement or repairs, loft and cavity wall insulation and more.

Flexible eligibility

CHiL has also developed a statement of intent to participate in ECO4 transition and specifically flexible eligibility. Flexible eligibility is a means for each Council to make an application for a range of energy efficiency measures for qualifying residents through a declaration to an energy company on behalf of the resident. Green Homes Grant: Local Authority Delivery Scheme

The Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme (LAD) is a new Government backed scheme delivered by local Council's to help eligible residents improve the energy efficiency of their homes for free (landlords will be expected to make a contribution).

Across Lancashire, the scheme will be run by CHiL and aims to raise the energy efficiency of low energy performance homes, including off-gas grid homes and is available to low income households earning less than £30,000 per year or who are in receipt of relevant benefits.

To qualify for the scheme, your property must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G. You can check the EPC rating of your home on the EPC Register (external link). If your property does not have an EPC, this can be done under the scheme, however, if it shows your property has a rating of A, B or C, you would not qualify for any measures.

If you would like to apply to the scheme, you can download the CHiL Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Application Form (PDF 340kb) and CHiL will be in touch to discuss the next steps.

This scheme is not the same as the Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme which ended on the 31 March 2021. If you applied for a voucher which did not progress, you can apply to the Local Authority Delivery Scheme providing you and your property meet the criteria.
