Ombudsman Services

Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman looks at individual complaints about Councils, all adult social care providers (including care homes and home care agencies) and some other organisations providing local public services.  Their service is free, independent and impartial. 

The Ombudsman will only review complaints once they have been through the Councils complaints procedure or if you have not received a response from us within a reasonable time.

Housing Ombudsman

The Housing Ombudsman investigates complaints from residents about landlords that provide social housing. This includes:

  • Local Authorities (Council's)
  • Housing Associations
  • Arms Length Management Organisations (ALMO's)

The Ombudsman will investigate complaints about the Landlords Housing Management Services, which includes:

  • Property condition and repairs
  • Rent and service charges
  • Anti-social behaviour affecting residents in their home
  • Complaint handling
