Our 'Walk this Weigh' programme can be accessed by anyone who feels they need to lose weight via a sensible/healthy route.

How do I access the scheme?

  • why diets don't work
  • goal setting
  • benefits of Physical activity

Look out for free 'Walk this Weigh' courses.  Dates/venues coming soon for Spring/Summer 2023.

Active Line Dancing

No booking required, open to all!

Location: Greenhill Hub, Beech Close , Skelmersdale WN8 8DL

Day: Tuesdays

Time: 10.00am - 12.00pm

Cost: £3

Tai Chi

No booking required.  All abilities welcome.

Come along to our Tai Chi class where you will be introduced to an easy and effective Tai Chi form, proven to regulate blood insulin levels, improve balance, coordination, and well-being and alleviate stress and anxiety.

Please wear comfortable clothing and flat-soled footwear (soft trainers); bring a bottle of water for the break.

Health Walks

There are various, independently run  'weekly health walks' across the borough. These are aimed at beginners and those returning to exercise.  Please see our Health Walks page for more information on times and locations.

Nordic Walking

Day: Tuesdays

Time: 11.45am - 12.45pm

Cost: £3 ( plus additional £1 pole hire)

Location: Meet at Burscough Racquet & Fitness Centre, Bobby Langton Way, Burscough L40 0SD

Tawd Valley Wellbeing Walk

Day: Tuesdays

Time: 10:00am - 11:30am

Cost: FREE

Location: Meet at Tawd Valley Allotment Site on Manfield, Skelmersdale, WN8 6SU

Come along and join us, simply turning up 5 minutes before the start.  This is a relaxed pace 'walk and talk' group promoting wellbeing.  Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Beacon Buggy Walk

Day: Mondays

Location: Meet outside Beacon Country Park Visitor Centre, Beacon Lane, Up Holland, Skelmersdale, WN8 7RU

Everyone welcome. Just turn up for a walk around Beacon Country Park, promoting not only wellbeing but the beautiful green space on our doorstep.  Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.
