Play areas

We manage over 40 play areas across the borough which are open all year round and provide a wide range of fun play experiences.

In line with the current guidance all of our play areas are currently open. However, we are unable to provide hand sanitiser at any of our sites. Please ensure that you bring your own and sanitise hands before and after using the equipment.

Please ensure that you comply with the current COVID guidance, detailed on the government website, when visiting our play areas.

Our play areas normally cater for a variety of age ranges from 5 year olds to teenagers.

All council owned play areas are inspected weekly.

Be a friend of the park

Two of our main urban parks have active 'friends of the park' groups. Working with our rangers, 'friends' have the chance to become actively involved in the management of the parks - you could use your gardening skills, help to publicise events or even be the ranger's eyes and ears when you use the park.

If you are interested in joining a friends group at either Coronation Park, Ormskirk, or Richmond Park, Burscough, please contact our Urban Park Ranger, email: anne.faulkner@westlancs.gov.uk or tel: 01695 570258.
