Community Chest Grant

If you run a voluntary community, sport, play or art group - or you're thinking of setting one up - we may be able to help with funding.

Grants are available to groups or individuals. In the past, we've helped a variety of groups including Brownies and Guides, veterans, pensioner groups, and music, church and health groups.

How to Apply

To apply for help, download an application form, complete it, and email it to memberservices@westlancs.gov.uk if possible. 

Hard copies can be sent to Member Services, Legal and Democratic Services, West Lancashire Borough Council, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk L39 2DF. However please be advised this may cause delays in processing your application.

Please note that all application forms need to be submitted with the relevant supporting documents in order for the application to be processed.

Please read the guidance notes at the start of the application form and check that all relevant documents are submitted with your application as this could delay any decision making.

Applications for funding from the Community Chest are now every couple of months. To assist please see the timetable as set out below.

Applications for funding from the Community Chest cannot be retrospective. For example, if assistance is requested for an activity or an event, the date for that activity or event must be after the proposed date for payment.

Please note that no organisation in receipt of a community chest grant will be eligible to apply for further assistance for a period of 3 years, unless the Council is satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances that warrant further assistance.

Late applications will not be considered, and the applicant will be notified accordingly.
