Clinical waste collections
Christmas Bin Collection Changes
Over the Christmas period, there will be scheduled changes to bin collections in West Lancashire. Please note that any clinical waste collections that would normally take place on Tuesday 27th December 2022 will now take place on Wednesday 28th December 2022, due to the bank holiday. Normal collections will resume from Tuesday 3rd January 2023.
We provide a domestic clinical waste collection service to households in the borough and a commercial clinical waste collection service for businesses.
Examples of clinical waste and containers you need are:
- In a Yellow Bag: Hazardous infectious clinical waste such as swabs or soiled dressings and waste from treatment areas.
- In a Sharps Box: Syringes, needles or other sharp instruments or glass (please note we only collect boxes with yellow lids. Only yellow lidded containers to be presented for collection. Boxes with any other colour lid should be return to the original provider e.g. hospital, doctor's surgery).
- In an additional Grey bin: Medical non-hazardous waste such hygiene waste and sanitary protection including incontinence pads.
