The Borough Council elections on 4th May are 'all-out' elections. This means that:

  • All seats on the Council are up for election.
  • There are 45 Seats across 15 Wards – 3 Councillors per Ward.
  • Voters can cast a vote for three separate candidates.
  • When votes are counted in each ward, the candidate with the most votes will serve for four years before needing to be re-elected again. The second place candidate will serve for three years before needing to be re-elected, and the third placed candidate will serve for one year before having to be re-elected.
