Council tax applies to all domestic properties, whether owned or rented. It is used to help pay for the local services such as refuse collection, policing, roads and schools. It is collected on behalf of the Borough Council, Lancashire County Council, including Adult Social Care, Lancashire Police Authority, Lancashire Combined Fire Authority and some parish councils.

Office opening hours

We operate an appointment based enquiry service for Council Tax at 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk available on a Monday and Friday between 9.30am and 1.30pm. To make an appointment please contact the Revenues and Benefits Service on 0300 790 0381 or email council.tax@westlancs.gov.uk. Alternatively you can make an appointment at the reception desk in the Council Offices, Derby Street, which is open Monday-Thursday, 9.00am-5.00pm and Friday, 9.00am-4.45pm.

If you don't need an appointment you can deposit any necessary documentation into the post box at the main Council Office building at Derby Street, Ormskirk and these will be returned to you by post. Alternatively you can email your proofs to council.tax@westlancs.gov.uk Please ensure you put your name, address and reference number if known in the subject field.
